About Conference
VEB.RF sends its best wishes to all its partners to remain safe during these volatile and unprecedented times. To ensure the safety of all the participants, VEB.RF and IDFC together are organizing virtually an Online Conference "From Pandemic to Recovery" aligned with the IDFC "Finance in Common" Summit that will take place in Paris next November.

The Online Conference will take place on September 9, 2020 at 14.00 – 16.45 (Moscow time, CET+1).

Being planned at the core of the global socio-economic crisis, the Conference aims to highlight the significant role of development banks in searching the right balance between short-term incentives and long-term vision, supporting national economies in this turbulent period.

The Conference gives an occasion to focus on two main issues that are at the core of every after-shock recovery: the well-being of small and medium enterprises and the sustainable infrastructure.

The year 2020 posed unexpected challenges for humanity, requiring not only a quick and effective, but also a coordinated response from all participants of the international relations. The pandemic, and the following economic, social and environmental challenges, raise important questions for countries about how to build a more resilient economy. For the first time in many decades, civilization has a chance to "reset" the existing order and move to a "new", better normality, where the Sustainable Development Goals can become a "compass" that should be guided by during the economic recovery.
The Conference will see the participation of the major Development Banks, International Organizations, Associations and Experts from all continents. Although global, there will be a limited number of speakers at the Conference in order to make the discussion interactive, more interesting and more fruitful.

SMEs support policies – sustainable development as a core of a new normality

The current crisis has affected SMEs disproportionately, and has revealed their sensitivity to the supply and demand shock (in particular with regard to their liquidity) with a serious risk that over 50% of SMEs will not survive the next few months. In their response to the crisis, governments have been quick to acknowledge the specific circumstances of SMEs, and have put in place policies to support them.

Which lessons have been learned from the current crisis?
